Although you may be convinced, the reality is that there are hosting fees and other recurring weather data subscriptions where a one time fee simply would not work. Although Apple users generally have disposable income, I think they should balk at paying a never-ending fee for a weather app. If the developer wanted to charge $6, even $8 for his work, I’m quite convinced that s/he‘d make a lot more over time. It doesn’t have the nifty wheel, but I’m really not willing to be bled by yet another subscription. Dark Sky is only $4, and that’s a one-time payment, and it is incredibly detailed and beautifully laid out-and accurate. It has great promise and I expect that it’ll improve over time (if the developers open to feedback & suggestions, but the main thing for me is that I won’t pay 40 bucks over 10 years. There should be an option to make the app badge show the current temp in my location. But the rest of the app is unpolished, unintuitive and cluttered. The dynamic map at the center helps, as does the phase of the moon in the lower left corner. It’s attractive, and the color coding is visually intuitive. ![]() I like it, but I also see room for a lot of improvement. Downloaded it via an Instagram ad with a free trial period to see if it is something I want to use daily. ![]() This weather app is something new, and it has a lot going for it.
